Satu Malaysia

Satu Malaysia is a work created using a discarded plastic bottle cover, assembled to form the Malaysian flag. The piece was made as a response to my experience living and studying in Malaysia, and as a gesture of respect to the nation that contributed to my personal and educational growth.

By using waste materials, the work speaks directly to environmental responsibility and the impact of plastic on the ecosystem. Transforming discarded objects into a national symbol reflects the possibility of renewal, unity, and shared responsibility.

As a Nigerian artist, this work also serves as a statement of representation, showing that Nigerians are capable of producing meaningful, socially engaged art beyond borders. Satu Malaysia stands at the intersection of cultural exchange, sustainability, and identity, using material transformation as both message and method.
